CITY GUIDE

Incheon – Songdo

Songdo is a planned international business district on reclaimed land in Incheon, a short drive across Incheon Bridge from Incheon International Airport. Songdo ConvensiA sits beside Songdo Central Park, so hotels, the park and restaurants are close together.

Venues: Songdo ConvensiA

Where to stay

  • Songdo Central Park area — Hotels, serviced apartments and the convention centre are grouped around the park, near Central Park and Incheon National University stations on Incheon Subway Line 1.
  • Songdo Triple Street area — A shopping and dining complex with cafes and restaurants, handy for evenings without leaving Songdo.
  • Incheon Airport area (Yeongjong Island) — Worth considering for a very early flight home, since Songdo is a short drive from the airport across Incheon Bridge.

Getting around

  • Incheon Subway Line 1 serves Songdo; Incheon National University Station (exit 4) and Central Park Station are the closest to ConvensiA.
  • From Incheon Airport, a taxi across Incheon Bridge is quick; airport limousine bus 6777 also runs to Songdo.
  • Songdo's blocks are large and spread out, so taxis (book with the Kakao T app) are often easier than walking.
  • Incheon Chinatown and central Seoul are reachable by rail but involve transfers; for a short evening trip a taxi is simpler.

After the show

  • Songdo Central Park — Korea's first seawater park, with a canal served by water taxis, kayak and paddle-boat rentals, bike hire and art along the paths. Entry is free. (Next to Songdo ConvensiA)
  • Tri-Bowl — A bowl-shaped arts centre in Central Park that looks as if it floats on the water, known for night views of the Songdo skyline. (In Songdo Central Park)
  • G-Tower observation floor — A free viewing floor on the 33rd floor of the G-Tower, looking over Central Park toward the West Sea and Incheon Bridge. Bring ID for the security desk. (Near Central Park Station exit 3)
  • Incheon Chinatown and Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village — Korea's only official Chinatown, birthplace of jajangmyeon and home to the Jajangmyeon Museum, next to a hillside neighbourhood painted with fairy-tale murals. (Near Incheon Station (Seoul Subway Line 1); easiest by taxi from Songdo)

Where to eat

  • Songdo Triple Street — Restaurants and cafes spread over several low buildings, next to a premium outlet mall.
  • Jajangmyeon in Incheon Chinatown — Noodles in black bean sauce, a Korean-Chinese dish that started in Incheon's Chinatown; mild and filling.
  • Sorae Port Fish Market — Incheon's main fish market, known for shrimp, blue crab and salted seafood; you can buy fresh seafood and have it served at a table on site.
